I am delighted to announce that the Anchor Edition of Master and Commander is finished!

In the coming days, I will be shipping out copies to those who ordered the book without the solander box.
The support and enthusiasm of so many people has been critical to getting me to this point. I am profoundly grateful to everyone who has contributed to the process – from the Kickstarter backers to the artisans who created tools and provided materials to those who just had kind words of encouragement. My deepest thanks are reserved for my sidekick in creation, Emiland Kray, who has been an invaluable help and to my dear friend and printing guru, Eric Doyle.
Next Steps
As happy as I am to finish this stage of the project, the work is far from done. Over the next few weeks, I will focus on making the solander boxes that so many of you have ordered. There are a few specialized Anchor copies. Then it will be on to finishing the HMS Victory Edition! Although this is a major milestone, the adventure continues. As Jack would say, “there is not a moment to lose!”
So, here is where things have been, where we are, and the next phases of the project.
Space (or Time) for Reflection and the Future
Between the work and the holidays, finding time to sit and really write thoughtfully has been impossible of late. Recent posts have been more of the “practical update” variety. I hope to remedy this soon. Once boxes and the Victory Edition are complete, I look forward to once again diving deeply into what the Master and Commander campaign has meant to me (as well as to you, dear readers all) and what I have learned along the way. I want to wax poetic, but not too poetically, about future projects and Ampersand Book Studio itself, as well as write more about a variety of topics: the creative process, histories and futures of the printed word, and all sorts of related (and probably a few unrelated) things. But for now, it’s back to the studio.
Stay tuned…
Beautiful work
